Boiled chicken for food
When I came home from work this afternoon I found a note in a plastic bag tied to my front doorknob. It was from my next-door neighbor. I glanced at the note and saw it read “Boiled chicken for food,” followed by a short list of numbers and words.
A recipe.
I took the note inside, opened the bag and found it didn’t read “Boiled chicken for food,” it read, “Boiled children for food,” followed by a list of Bible verses.
At first I was shocked, but then I remembered a long conversation my neighbor and I shared last week. Somehow the topic of cannibalism came up and neither of us could remember exactly where it was mentioned in the Bible.
